Community dispute
Use of communal areas and harassment:
Dispute referred to mediation by the Court. One party felt persecuted by other, long standing tenants of a Housing Association development.
Behaviour complained of included death threat letter and vandalism, unreasonable noise and stress caused by children’s behaviour, resulting in tension between tenants.
The issues explored:
- parties’ values and cultural differences
- the nature of parties’ investment into their homes, how they expected others to behave
Developed a code of acceptable behaviour around use of common parts, noise levels, children’s play and maintenance issues.
